Canonical is hiring Graduate Software Engineers for its global engineering teams. This is an excellent opportunity for freshers from the 2025 and 2026 batch who are passionate about software engineering, Linux systems, cloud computing, open-source technologies, and backend development.
As a global platform company, Canonical works on a wide range of technologies including Python, Golang, Rust, C/C++, JavaScript, Bash scripting, Linux systems, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, firmware, and security engineering. Candidates will get opportunities to work on Ubuntu, cloud technologies, containers, AI infrastructure, Linux distributions, security, and developer tooling while collaborating with international teams.
Job Responsibilities
- Shape the product roadmap during global sprint meetings every six months
- Focus on software design and user experience for developer tools and applications
- Write high-quality, scalable, resilient, and performant code
- Work towards mastery in programming languages and Linux systems
- Engage with users and open-source communities through issue trackers and code reviews
- Respond to customer issues and understand enterprise software requirements
- Develop secure software design and implementation practices
- Work on open-source technologies, cloud systems, Kubernetes, and Linux-based solutions
Eligibility Criteria
- 2025 or 2026 graduates are eligible to apply
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Informatics, or another STEM discipline
- Strong programming knowledge in Python, Rust, C/C++, Golang, JavaScript, or Java
- Knowledge of Ubuntu or other Linux distributions
- Strong academic record in school and university
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
- Ability to work independently and meet commitments
- Interest in software engineering projects beyond academics
- Good problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel internationally for company events if required
